HOLLYWOOD, Sep.4 /Christian Newswire/ -- RAD RADIO's mission is to combine entertainment with ministry, and in so doing, to hold our culture up to the light and inspire people to live the Christian life. RAD's goal is to reach listeners all over the world on Christian radio stations and through the Internet on our website.

RAD RADIO is an original situation comedy created expressly for radio. It's about a widowed man who inherits a rundown radio station and its quirky staff. Set in the Mayberry-like town of Foothill Heights, It is down-home family entertainment. The show is written and directed by Carl Swenson who employs professional actors with film, TV, and stage experience. The show is recorded by industry pros and mixed and mastered by top audio engineers in the entertainment industry. Each episode of RAD RADIO is followed by a five-minute, faith-centered message based on a theme in the episode. Topics run from grace and gossip to serving and selfishness, and much more. The first episode premiere's on Los Angeles Christian radio station, KKLA, Saturday September 22 at 8:30pm Pacific time, and will run for 13 weeks consecutively with new episodes weekly. The episodes will also be available for purchase nationwide on the website. www.radradio.org

RAD RADIO is funny, comedic and yet subtle, but with a radical message of inspiration and entertainment.

Writer/Producer Carl Swenson had an award-winning background in journalism on the East Coast before coming to California to break into television. He worked extensively in the area of children's programming and animation, writing for Disney, Warner Bros, MGM, and others. He also honed his skills in the Christian arena, working for Focus on the Family, Campus Crusade for Christ, CBN, and eHarmony.com. He is also a graduate of Regent University.

One of his biggest challenges was overcoming tongue cancer a few years back. He lost a significant part of his tongue, but kept writing and developed Rad Radio, in which he takes an active part himself, delivering the five-minute talks at the end of each episode. "Only God knows why he allows things like this to happen to us, but hopefully it will inspire and encourage others to overcome and know that nothing is impossible with God. Rad's goal is to turn life on its head like Jesus did, so maybe this is one more variation on the theme." says Swenson.
