CWA Media Alert: New Jersey Court to Rule on Marriage

Contact: Stacey Holliday, Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 126

WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The New Jersey Supreme Court is poised to decide anytime on a challenge to the state’s marriage law by several homosexual couples. For a detailed analysis of the case, see CWA Chief Counsel Jan LaRue’s article, "New Jersey Court Rules Against Same-Sex ‘Marriage’".

Lower New Jersey courts dismissed a suit by seven homosexual couples challenging the state’s marriage law, but the high court, which ruled against the Boy Scouts in the Dale v. Boy Scouts of America case in 1999, has one of the most liberal records of all the state supreme courts.

CWA supporters are urged to pray for the court to show wisdom.  If the court strikes down the marriage law, pro-family activists could seek passage of a constitutional amendment protecting marriage.

Courts in eight straight cases around the nation in recent weeks have ruled in favor of marriage.

CWA experts, including Chief Counsel Jan LaRue and Robert Knight, Director of CWA’s Culture & Family Institute, are ready to comment when a decision is announced.
