SAN FRANCISCO, May 18, 2021 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Saint Paul said that faith, hope and love remain, but that the "greatest of these is love" (1 Cor 13:13), something not lost on Bishop Donald Hying in his new book, LOVE NEVER FAILS: LIVING THE CATHOLIC FAITH IN OUR DAILY LIVES (Ignatius Press). In the midst of inescapable division in today's world, Bishop Hying makes the case for all those who love Jesus to seek deeper communion with Him in their daily lives — what if every Christian did such a thing? The world would look a lot different.
Bishop Donald Hying is the bishop of Madison, Wisconsin. Ordained a priest in Milwaukee in 1989, he has served in various pastoral roles, including diocesan parishes, mission work in the Dominican Republic and Rector at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee. He relishes his work with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, USCCB Sub-Committee for Aid to Eastern Europe and National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
The fruit of much pastoral experience, LOVE NEVER FAILS addresses both perennial and current challenges facing Catholics, giving reasons for hope and joy. Touching on a wide range of topics, from prayer to evangelization, it offers insights into living the Catholic faith with humility and heroism as it focuses on the person of Jesus Christ — his identity, mission and presence in our lives.
Having been a pastor of souls in a variety of settings — the suburbs, the inner city, the mission field and the seminary — Bishop Hying has interacted with all kinds of people, and he has learned much about God's purpose and action among us. In LOVE NEVER FAILS, he provides readable and practical reflections to feed the Christian mind and heart with inspiration.
"Bishop Hying has written exactly the book we need to find the inner peace and evangelical joy God intends for all of us," said Most Reverend Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., archbishop emeritus of Philadelphia. "A marvelously rich meditation on the fidelity of God's love, our reasons for hope, and the power of a sincere and vigorous Catholic faith to transform ourselves and our world."
