HANOVER, Penn., May 23, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Boy Scouts of America received 24,208 petitions today from Tradition, Family and Property Student Action.
"If the Boy Scouts decide to surrender their moral values, they will crumble away like a dry cookie," said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie.
"We just submitted the urgent concern of 24,208 students, parents, and patriotic Americans who have signed our petition urging the Boy Scouts of America not to change its morally sound membership policy," Ritchie said. "A large number of petition signees are involved in Scouting: Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and Scoutmasters."
"Parents understand how the public acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle would not only undermine the moral atmosphere of the Scouts, but also increase the risk of sexual abuse," stated Ritchie. "An in-depth study published by the Family Research Council demonstrates that homosexuals, who account for approximately two percent of the population, are responsible for up to one third of child sexual abuse cases."
"The inclusion of open homosexuality into the ranks of the Boys Scouts will create moral confusion, especially among impressionable boys, who are already bombarded by our hyper-sexualized culture. Moreover, if the Boy Scouts change currently policy, countless God-fearing parents across the nation will withdraw their children from its ranks and cease contributing time and resources," he said.
"For the good of so many boys, and their families, I've presented the urgent request of 24,208 Americans to the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America. Our message is simple: Don't surrender your moral values. Keep your honor. Stand strong."
