Court Martial Hearing for Prayer in America Begins Monday Morning

Contact: Chaplain Klingenschmitt, 719-360-5132; Janet Folger, 954-465-1500; Wanda Sanchez, 209-534-9921

MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Monday morning, August 14, the court martial process begins with a pre-trial hearing for U.S. Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt at the Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia.

Janet Folger, president of Faith2Action (F2A.ORG) and author of The Criminalization of Christianity, will be at the court martial hearing on Monday, lending her support to the chaplain. Janet exclaims: “For all those who thought the ‘Criminalization of Christianity’ is an exaggeration, think again!”

Chaplain Klingenschmitt is facing a court martial for praying in Jesus’ name in public while wearing his uniform on March 30. He did not express political or any other views as has been alleged.

Klingenschmitt is not alone in facing this religious persecution. Sixty-six other current and former chaplains are suing the Navy for the limits placed on them. He has heard from chaplains in other branches of the military who are also being restricted in what they can say and do.

“While our soldiers fight for freedom abroad, our own chaplains are facing court martial for praying for them,” said Folger. “If they can silence the chaplain today, make no mistake, they will silence YOU tomorrow!”

Chaplain Klingenschmitt (719-360-5132) and Janet Folger (954-465-1500) are available for interviews this weekend and may also be reached through Wanda Sanchez at: 209-534-9921.

Janet, who also hosts a syndicated daily radio show, will be available for interviews after the hearing on Monday afternoon in Norfolk, Virginia and on Monday evening in Washington, D.C.
