"NRB's strong witness and speaker lineup is an antidote to Evangelical squishiness." -- Chelsen Vicari, Evangelical Action Director
WASHINGTON, Feb. 23, 2015 /
Christian Newswire/ -- Institute on Religion and Democracy President Mark Tooley and IRD Evangelical Action Director Chelsen Vicari will be participating in the annual National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Media Convention. The four-day event is expected to draw thousands of Christian communicators to Nashville, Tennessee February 23-26.
NRB is an international association of Christian communicators. NRB members are linked through a Declaration of Unity that proclaims their joint commitment and devotion to Christianity.
Chelsen Vicari, Director of IRD's Evangelical Action program, commented:
"NRB's strong witness and speaker lineup is an antidote to Evangelical squishiness at a time where Christian leaders need to make bold, unambiguous stands that are often at odds with the prevailing culture.
"NRB was formed out of necessity during a time when Christian broadcasters were not freely able to purchase radio airtime for religious broadcasting. Today, NRB's experience advocating for freedom of speech and free religious expression are much needed in defense of religious liberty.
"In August of 2014 I was privileged to take part in the 'Christians in Solidarity with Israel' trip hosted by NRB and the nation's Ministry of Tourism. The trip to Israel served not only as a pilgrimage of personal faith renewal, but my life-changing encounter with a democratic peace-loving nation that young Evangelicals are encouraged to despise by a growing movement of anti-Israel advocates within the churches."
Vicari's book Distortion: How the New Christian Left is Twisting the Gospel and Damaging the Faith is published by Frontline.
