KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 6, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Board of Directors announces the retirement of Geneva Vollrath as the President/CEO of Stonecroft Ministries. Vollrath will serve until the end of April, participating in the upcoming Call To Me prayer event. This event is near to the heart of Geneva, and continues the ministry's focus on prayer for 2012.

"Our commitment to the mission, to God Himself, is expressed and cultivated through prayer. There is no more important work for a Christian, no more valuable effort for a Christian organization, no more critical leadership, than prayer," Vollrath said.

During the past seven years, Geneva led Stonecroft forward in taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all women. She repeatedly encouraged the Stonecroft volunteers to think how they could reach women of "every age, every stage, and every face."

Key accomplishments under Geneva's leadership include the establishment of Military Ministry, Cross Cultural Ministry, the introduction of Town Halls to connect with volunteers, the appointment of Divisional Field Directors, and a signature global, live streaming online event, Impact '10 ~ Stir. Geneva has educated leaders and volunteers to understand and minister in the current culture, across generations, and has truly taken the ministry into the digital age. Additionally, the International Ministry was advanced as Geneva traveled to Canada, South Africa, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria meeting with various ministry leaders and partners.

"Geneva helped Stonecroft Ministries move forward with crucial, difficult decisions," said Vera Velk, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Her leadership, focus, and care for the mission of Stonecroft were vital to where we are now and where this ministry will advance in the future."

As she retires, Vollrath shares an enthusiastic hope for Stonecroft: "Our neighbors, coworkers, friends all need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Stonecroft is well positioned here in the United States and around the world to impact women and their communities with the Gospel."

As Stonecroft prepares to celebrate 75 years of ministry in 2013, its commitment to evangelism is as strong as ever. Sharing Jesus Christ is why Stonecroft exists. Stonecroft's future includes a growing focus on service to women in our local communities as a pathway to share the Gospel and create opportunities for Bible Studies. God is at work through Stonecroft volunteers who lead outreach activities, Stonecroft Bible Studies, service opportunities, and more.

The Board of Directors is prayerfully working to identify Stonecroft's next CEO.

Geneva looks forward to being closer to her family in Florida.

Stonecroft is an international ministry whose purpose is to raise up and equip women to proclaim the Gospel. Stonecroft has thousands of volunteers leading these efforts in Outreach Groups and Bible studies in the US and in 65 countries.
