AURORA, Ill., April 15, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Good Friday, April 18, 2014, will be marked at Aurora's Planned Parenthood center as a day of mourning and prayer for lives lost to abortion. Ever since the massive abortion facility opened in 2007 under a cloud of deception and controversy, community members have used every peaceful means to speed the day that America's largest abortion provider leaves this large suburban community west of Chicago, from lawsuits to protests to prayer vigils. On the day that Christians worldwide observe the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, faithful believers will gather outside of the abortion center to grieve for the innocent unborn children who are put to death daily almost 2,000 years after the original Good Friday. "The Way of the Cross for Abortion Victims," coordinated by the Pro-Life Action League, also emphasizes prayers for babies at risk of being aborted to be spared and for their mothers to choose life.
"Thousands of unborn babies have been put to death by abortion at the intersection of New York and Oakhurst since Planned Parenthood opened its doors in Aurora," declared Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. "For six years, we have gathered there on Good Friday to mourn for these children and pray that their brothers and sisters will be spared. This annual event has proved so impactful that last year I invited pro-life groups across the country to join us with their own prayer vigils." At forty abortion clinics across the country -- in cities like Philadelphia, Saint Louis, Denver, Nashville, Milwaukee and Tucson -- clergy will lead solemn prayer services this year, a 40% increase over last year.
Christians of all denominations have been invited to participate in the ecumenical prayer service:
WHERE: Aurora Planned Parenthood, 3051 East New York Street, Aurora
WHEN: Good Friday, April 18, 2014, beginning at 10 a.m.
WHAT: Prayers will be offered for all the victims of abortion: the children lost, the mothers wounded, as well as for elected officials supportive of abortion and people working in
the abortion industry.
WHO: Pro-Life Action League, Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood and other concerned citizens.
"Through His Holy Passion, Our Lord united Himself with all the victims of suffering in this life," remarked Scheidler, adding that, "None suffer more innocently than children in the womb whose lives are taken by abortion. None suffer more deeply than their mothers, carrying a heavy burden of guilt and shame."

About the Pro-Life Action League
The Pro-Life Action League was founded by Joe Scheidler in 1980 with the aim of saving babies from abortion through direct action. Not content to await a political or judicial solution to abortion, the League seeks to stop the killing of unborn children right now through all available peaceful means, including public protest, sidewalk counseling, education, youth outreach, and national leadership.
