WASHINGTON, Feb. 8, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Generation Opportunity, a rapidly growing organization with over 2.3 million Facebook fans that is mobilizing young adults through a strategy based on social media and ground operations, is proud to announce its new "Valentines for Vets" initiative for Valentine's Day 2012. The online effort allows people to create personal expressions of love, support, and appreciation for U.S. veterans. Many of the Facebook fans on Generation Opportunity's pages "Being American by GO" and "The Constitution by GO" are current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving or living overseas.

"The 'Valentines for Vets' initiative allows anyone the opportunity to create a message of thanks to the selfless heroes, especially America's youngest veterans, who have taken time out of their lives and careers to defend America's freedom, security, and Exceptionalism. The Generation Opportunity team knows -- through the service of their own friends, family members, and those they love -- the vital impact that a heartfelt and well-timed thank you can have on the morale of veterans," said Paul T. Conway, president of Generation Opportunity and former Chief of Staff to Major General Douglas O'Dell, USMC (Ret.), at the United States Department of Homeland Security. "On a day when Americans traditionally engage in expressions of love to one another, it is a great opportunity to remind those who served that their fellow citizens and nation love them and fully respect their service and sacrifice."

Generation Opportunity will deliver the messages to veterans during the week of Valentine's Day.
