MCLEAN, Va., April 23, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- On April 21st, Zondervan publishing company released a newly-formatted edition of For the Least of These: A Biblical Answer to Poverty, a book which combines biblical theology with proven economic principles to present the case for why markets and trade are the world's best hope for alleviating poverty. The edition was first published in 2014 by the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics (IFWE) and WestBow Press, a subsidiary of Thomas Nelson and Zondervan. IFWE has published a companion For the Least of These study guide, which is available at the IFWE bookstore and is suitable for classroom or small group use.

The fifteen highly-qualified contributing authors include Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, Marvin Olasky, editor-in-chief of WORLD Magazine, and Peter Greer, president and CEO of HOPE International. The volume is edited by Anne Bradley, vice president of economic initiatives at IFWE, and Art Lindsley, vice president of theological initiatives at IFWE.

Michael Novak, author of The Spirit of Democratic Capitalism, has said, "This book soundly tackles the most important social task of Christians over the next twenty years: the urgent need to break the chains of poverty for the world's billion-plus poor."

Ryan Pazdur, associate publisher and executive editor at Zondervan said, "Many Christians today are not satisfied with the typical answers to poverty. We felt this title had great potential for academic and church markets, as well as thoughtful readers who are looking for a fresh, biblical approach to poverty alleviation."
