Christian Freedom International Uses Microenterprise to Help Persecuted Christians

U.S.-Based Humanitarian Organization Helps Provide Income for Artisans in Other Countries

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, Oct. 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Freedom International (CFI), a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to the cause of helping persecuted Christians worldwide, has released its 2006/2007 Handcraft Catalog in conjunction with its microenterprise program.

The catalog features dozens of handcraft items for sale, including ethnic clothing, pottery, jewelry and bags, all made by Christian artisans in countries such as Pakistan, Laos, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.  As part of its microenterprise, or “self-help,” program, CFI provides artisans with training and materials, then pays them for the crafts that are shipped to and sold in the United States.  For poverty-stricken Christians, the program has been a successful way for them to earn an income for themselves and their families.

Microenterprise is just one of the many projects CFI undertakes in its attempts to aid suffering Christians throughout the world.  By monitoring countries where persecution is the most intense, the organization is able to partner with indigenous churches and church members to provide basic supplies such as food, Bibles, medicine and medical care, as well as the operation of schools and orphanages, in areas where it is desperately needed.

Startling statistics reveal that more Christians have been martyred for their faith in the past 100 years than in all of the past 1,900 years combined.  Christian Freedom International has been widely recognized for its efforts to provide relief and advocacy on behalf of Christians living in countries where even the simple act of owning a Bible is illegal.
