WASHINGTON, June 26, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement regarding the Supreme Court's 5-4 vote to uphold President Trump's so-called travel ban:
The Supreme Court's decision today is a victory for national security, the U.S. Constitution, the rule of law, and the safety of U.S. citizens and other innocents.
The anti-Trump judiciary also suffered a major defeat in its political attacks on President Trump.
Considering today's strong ruling, the Trump administration should take additional steps to keep terrorists out of the United States.
Chief Justice Roberts wrote in today's majority opinion: "By its plain language [the law] grants the President broad discretion to suspend the entry of aliens into the United States. The President lawfully exercised that discretion based on his findings—following a worldwide, multi-agency review—that entry of the covered aliens would be detrimental to the national interest."
