WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Coptic Solidarity announces that it will join CrowdRise, the largest crowdfunding platform for charitable causes, to participate in the CrowdRise Giving Tower Holiday Challenge.  Coptic Solidarity will utilize donations from the #GivingTuesday campaign on December 1, 2015 to further its advocacy and awareness efforts dedicated to advocating equal citizenship for the Coptic Christians of Egypt and minorities in the Middle East.

2015 was a year of more tragedy for the Christians and other minorities of the Middle East, which intensified the resolve of Coptic Solidarity to create a voice for the region's most embattled citizens.  Coptic Solidarity hosted the year's largest conference in Washington D.C. dedicated to the creation of awareness and soliciting policy suggestions for assisting Copts and other minorities suffering from systemic discrimination.  Coptic Solidarity also strengthened its ties to both freshman and incumbent federal legislators in the US Congress, and joined with the Middle East Christian Committee in ongoing advocacy efforts with UN Security Council Members to find sustainable solutions for bringing security and equality to the targeted Christian communities of the Middle East.

The CrowdRise Giving Tower is a virtual tower made up of bricks, each of which represents a donation made to charity on #GivingTuesday, providing charitable organizations an organized, zero-cost way to raise funds to support their causes. As donations are made, donors, organizations and consumers can watch the tower grow brick by brick via a free virtual reality application available in the iTunes store and Google Play.  Last year, the CrowdRise Giving Tower raised $4.1 million.

The Giving Tower campaign will kick off CrowdRise's annual Holiday Challenge - a friendly fundraising competition between charities that runs through January 7, 2016.  The charity that raises the most in the CrowdRise Giving Tower on #GivingTuesday, December 1, from 12 a.m. ET through 11:59:59 p.m. ET will get an additional $25,000 donation to their cause.  Participants also will have the opportunity to win up to $250,000 in grand and weekly prizes, and donors will have the chance to win everything from a five-day vacation in Belize to a $2,500 shopping spree at Century21.
