House Passes Syrian Refugee Bill with Veto-Proof Majority

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Yesterday the House passed a bill that would require a stricter screening process before allowing refugees into the United States. Concerned Women for America (CWA) CEO and President Penny Nance had this to say:

"This bill is necessary for the safety of Americans and, subsequently, the safety of the world. Congress clearly recognized this fact by passing it with a veto-proof majority. Although we do have a responsibility to care for the refugees, we must, in effect, place the oxygen mask over our own faces before we can assist others. The fact that five Syrian terrorists were just stopped in Honduras on the way to the U.S. has sealed CWA's commitment to a short-term moratorium on Syrian refugees of any faith until we and our leaders can figure out a real strategy. We will work to support Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) efforts to pass the Terrorist Refugee Infiltration Prevention Act (S. 2302) in the Senate."
