DETROIT, May 15, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the wake of the U.S. House of Representatives passing the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act this week, three pro-life groups will join forces to protest two of the most outspoken opponents of this legislation: Planned Parenthood and former Texas state senator Wendy Davis. Davis will be the keynote speaker at Planned Parenthood's annual fundraising luncheon in Dearborn, Michigan. Activists from Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Pro-Life Detroit and the Pro-Life Action League will protest the event.

Wendy Davis gained national fame for filibustering an omnibus pro-life bill in Texas wearing iconic pink tennis shoes. The bill -- which included a ban on abortions after 20 weeks similar to the bill just passed in the U.S. House -- was enacted despite Davis's filibuster, leading to the closure of 25 abortion clinics in that state and saving an estimated 16,500 unborn children from abortion.

"Half of all aborted children are little girls," said Monica Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. "They'll never get to grow up and wear pink tennis shoes like the ones Wendy Davis wore during her filibuster. More than a quarter of these innocent victims are being aborted by Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion chain."

Miller said the group will highlight this injustice with large signs showing a baby girl killed by a late term abortion, along with signs depicting pink baby booties and the words, "She'll never get to wear pink shoes."

"By 20 weeks, an unborn child can respond to her mother's voice and even what she eats for lunch. When that child's body is torn apart by an abortionist, she feels excruciating pain," said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. "Most Americans are appalled by late-term abortion, but Planned Parenthood and Wendy Davis are doing everything in their power to allow this barbaric practice to continue."
