Personhood Alliance Tells Congress: Don't Discriminate Against Any Class of Preborn Children

Contact: Dan Becker, Personhood Alliance, 678-524-9504

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Personhood Alliance is calling upon the House of Representatives to make this 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade a historic one by removing all exceptions that permit abortion from the proposed pro-life legislation.

"The 114th congress, is the most pro-life congress in decades, and it has the unique opportunity to vigorously advocate our pro-life principles, and that means protecting all innocent human beings," stated Dan Becker, President of the Personhood Alliance

The Personhood Alliance is a coalition of 13 state and local affiliate groups among which are independent state members of National Right to Life, the Personhood Alliance, and the Iowa affiliate of the Family Research Council - The Family Leader.

Gualberto Garcia Jones, National Policy Director for the Personhood Alliance stated that "the Pain Capable Abortion Ban, H.R. 36, was deeply flawed legislation, and we applaud those pro-life legislators who represented their pro-life constituencies by refusing to support the bill as introduced."

Following reports of the abandonment of H.R. 36, the House of Representatives responded by a renewed push for H.R. 7, a bill aimed at removing the tax payer funding of the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

Matt Sande, Legislative Director for Pro-life Wisconsin commented, "while H.R. 7 pursues the legitimate end of defunding Planned Parenthood, our members will not support it if it contains the same flaws that H.R. 36 had regarding exceptions that permit aborting the weakest and most defenseless."

The Personhood Alliance calls upon all of its members to contact congress to tell them to only support legislation that does not discriminate against any class of preborn children.
