CARROLLTON, Texas, April 24, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Veil of Tears: Hope Is on the Way" (www.veiloftearsmovie.com/kit), the successful and award-winning film that shows the oppression of millions of women in South Asia, is now available as a free "Movie Night" Kit for churches and small groups.

"Veil of Tears," which was released in limited theaters nationwide last month, tells stories of infanticide, dowry deaths and widow abandonment -- and powerful examples of restoration and empowerment.  During its three week run in theaters, the documentary film remained strong, with multiple sold-out shows and overflow crowds in many cities.  It impressively outperformed the mega-budgeted, epic film "NOAH" in the per screen average attendance during the past two weeks.

The free movie kit includes a DVD specifically designed for churches and small group screenings, movie posters to advertise the free showings, conversation cards that also help with promotion, and wristbands with engraved messages: "I Helped Rescue a Woman" or "She Is Loved."

Dr. K. P. Yohannan, founder and international director of Gospel for Asia (GFA), encourages churches to take advantage of this unique resource.

"Most people are unaware of the harsh realities some women face in this part of the world," he said. "Through this free movie kit, we hope thousands of people will become more aware and informed, and then take practical steps that will help lead victims to restoration and hope."

The for-churches DVD includes a "Behind the Veil of Tears" featurette, including in-depth interviews with the film's directors, the Saylors Brothers, and Dove Award-winning and Grammy-nominated Christian recording artist Natalie Grant, who served as the film's narrator. They talk about their time in South Asia and firsthand insights on the challenges many women face in the region. The DVD also includes short video segments that cover questions about life in Asia and how people can help make a difference. Also included in the kit are materials intended to encourage group discussion.

The Rev. Jim Putman, senior pastor of Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho, encouraged pastors to show "Veil of Tears" to their congregations.

"I think every pastor in America ought to make sure their people see this movie, as it will challenge them spiritually," he said. "It will convict them to appreciate what they take for granted, but will also compel them to do something with what they have for the glory of God. Every American pastor knows their people need to wake up; this can help them do it."

Churches and small groups can order the free movie kit by visiting www.veiloftearsmovie.com/kit.  The video can only be mailed to addresses in the U.S. and Canada.
