WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- In mid July of 2006, the Christian Defense Coalition organized a week long 24 hour prayer vigil under a large tent on the Mall following the announcement of a “crime emergency” by Washington, D.C. officials.
 
The group prayed that the number of murders in Washington D.C. would drop dramatically over the next five months from the previous year.
 
The Christian Defense Coalition is delighted to report that there were 27% less murders in the final five months of 2006 compared with final five months of 2005.
 
The Coalition encourages churches across the nation to begin to reach out in public prayer regarding pressing social concerns facing their local communities.
